Classes for January - April 2012

Pre-registration and payment is required for all classes
and is non-refundable.

We ask that you are courteous to others while taking a
class and silence your cell phones....and treat yourself to a babysitter.

Wednesday Morning Help Time
10:00 am - Noon
Taught by Shirley Marshall
$5.00 class fee
This is a great way to bring any project that you are having
difficulty with and get help. You don't need to call ahead,
and you can stay a few minutes or the entire time. So go
into that knitting bag and bring out that project and
let's get it finished!!


Wednesday Night Help Time
6:00 - 8:00 pm
Taught by Paula Daniels
$5 class fee
Starting Feb. 1st, Paula Daniels will be available
every week to help with any project that has you
stumped, or if you want to start a project that
requires a new skill, Paula can teach you.
You can stay all or part of the time. You don't need
to pre-register, and you can join us at any time
between those hours.
We hope this will help to accomodate those who
cannot join us during our daytime help class!

Come join us and knit a while! This will be a great time
for all who would like a knitting group and don't need
help on their project. This will be an informal group where
ideas and conversation will accompany your knitting.

The first Monday night of every month we will host a Knit
Night at the shop. This will be a social knit night where
you can come join with other knitters in sharing your ideas
and projects.

Beginning Knitting
Saturday Mornings
10:00 am - Noon
Class fee $40
This class consists of two - 2 hour sessions.
In the first class, we teach you how to cast on, the knit stitch
and the purl stitch. The next week, we teach you how to use
the stitches in different combinations, how to bind off
and get you started on a basic project. Included in the
class is yarn and needle to get you started. Pre-registration
is required at least 1 week in advance.

 

Tuckernuck

Tuckernuck Cardigan
Wednesday, January 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th and Feb. 1st
1:00 - 3:00 pm
$45 class fee with 15% off supplies
Class taught by Shirley Marshall

This class is designed for the intermediate knitter. If you
have mastered a few projects with basic knit and purl stitches,
know how to identify your stitches and read your pattern . . .
come join us for the next level in learning.

This sweater has cables, mid level shaping, reading a chart
and finishing work!

The pattern ranges from sizes 6 months - 5 years and is knit
with Cascade 220 or any worsted weight yarn.

Additional supplies needed are size 6 and size 8, 32" needles,
as well as size 6 and size 8 double point needles.

The pattern will be included with the class.


Introduction To Crochet
Saturday, January 7, 2012
10:00 am - Noon
$30 class fee. Class includes yarn and crochet hook.
Please bring a small pair of craft scissors
Class taught by Cony Larsen

Students will learn to master the basics of crochet
by starting an easy project, a crochet flower. They will
learn the foundation steps for a well crafted crochet project,
and will master the secrets of good yarn tension.


Lullaby Crochet Edges for Hemstitched Baby Blankets
Saturday, January 14, 2012
10:00 am - Noon
$30 class fee. Class includes a kit with burp towel, a
ball of crochet thread, and crochet hook.
Please bring a small pair of craft scissors.
Class taught by Cony Larsen

Students will learn the basic techniques used to
crochet edges on hemstitched blankets and burp towels.
With three basic stitches they will be edging in a snap!

 

Chroma

Chroma Hat
Tuesday, January 24th, 31st and February 7th

Class taught by Terri Pastorrino
$40 class fee. Supplies needed for class:
Copy of book "Weekend Hats"; 5 colors of worsted
weight yarn (170 yards each) , class will supply
small amounts of additional 2 colors. This will make
2 hats. Samples used with Berrocco Vintage.
Size 6, 16" needle; Size 7, 16" needle; Size 7 DPN's,
Marker, Tapestry needle.
15% discount given for all supplies and color "working"
copy of pattern supplied.
This is an intermediate class for those who want to learn
to use both hands for color knitting. This is a great class
for learning this fun skill on a smaller basis! You can
switch the colors around and make two hats and see how
different they turn out!


Felted Clogs

Supplies needed: Approx. 500, 540, 580, 675, 720
yards worsted weight wool that will felt.
Slippers are women's small, medium, large and men's
small, medium and large.
Contrasting cuff requires 1 skein of same yarn.
Size 13, 24" and 16" circular needles.
Spare circular needle in small size.
Fiber Trends pattern "Felt Clogs"
This is the most popular slipper pattern we offer,
and now Shirley will teach you all the tricks and
helpful hints in making these great slippers!

The Einstein Coat
Wednesday, February 8th, 15th, 22nd, March 7th,

Taught by Shirley Marshall
Supplies needed: Copy of Sally Melville's book "The Knit Stitch"
Yarn and needle requirements in book depending on yarn
weight and size of garment chosen.
This wonderful sweater/coat is knit using only the knit
stitch, there is no purl stitch in the garment!
It's knit in 1 piece to the armhole and then divided for
fronts and back. The sleeves are picked up and knit
down, so there is minimal finishing!

Tuesday, February 14th, 21st and 28th

Taught by Jane Callister
Supplies needed for class: Size 1 double point needles,
Pattern included in class, 1 skein (400 yards) sock yarn.
This is a fun class if you've ever wanted to learn
to knit socks from the toe up! Jane has perfected the
magic cast on to make starting your socks a breeze!

The Wonderful Wallaby Sweater
Wednesday, April 4th, 11th, 18th 25th,
and May 2nd and 9th

Taught by Shirley Marshall
Supplies needed: Copy of pattern "The Wonderful Wallaby"
Yarn and needle requirements in pattern depending on
size of garment chosen.
We think this is the greatest pattern ever written!
You will learn how to knit the sweater from the
bottom up in one piece, pick up the stitches for the pocket,
join the sleeves and finish with the hood.
This pattern ranges in size from child size 2 to adult
XXL and you will find it to be one of your favorites
to knit!
